Check out our latest interview with the Institute of Animal Law of Asia!

Are you curious about the animal protection laws in a remarkably biodiverse and multicultural country such as Nepal?

AAA is a member of the Alliance for Animal Law of Asia (AALA), an international networking campaign cooperating with different animal organizations initiated by the Institute of Animal Law of Asia (IALA). For this reason, our Direct Elly Nakajima and Nepal Coordinator Surajan Shrestha were featured in the latest interview by IALA to introduce the members and their work for animals to the public.

From the interview, you’ll learn more about the AAA mission and our experience working on mobilizing local Asian advocates to create waves of impactful actions for farmed animals. But that’s not all.

This year, Surajan and his dedicated team of local advocates are working on the AAA Nepal Fellowship Program 2024, aiming to push for legal changes that would end inhumane buffalo transportation in the country. In this insightful interview, Surajan offers his valuable perspective regarding Nepalese animal law issues and the potential solutions ahead, the public and political perception towards animal protection, and how cooperation from the international community could play a vital role in supporting the local initiatives that are working to improve the condition of animals in Asian countries.

I believe that collaboration and mutual support among Western and Asian countries can really contribute to creating a more compassionate world for animals.
— Surajan Shrestha, AAA Nepal Coordinator
