INTRODUCTION

Animal Alliance Asia Ltd (AAA) is the Data Controller. This Privacy Notice explains in detail the types of personal data we may collect about you when you interact with us. It also explains how we’ll store and handle that data. When this notice refers to ‘we’, ‘our’ or ‘us’ we are referring to AAA. For the purposes of this notice ‘AAA’ includes our staff and volunteers. We are a non-profit and a company limited by guarantee (UK registered company number 12336240). Our registered offices are at 64 International House, Nile Street, London N1 7SR. Contact us via email: info@animalallianceasia.org with any questions regarding this Policy. All the details you provide to us on our website are taken and held securely using SSL encryption. You can tell the page you are entering details on is secure because ‘https’ will replace the ‘http’ at the front of the www.animalallianceasia.org. A small padlock will also appear in your browser window. The information provided is held on a secure server.

YOUR RIGHTS

Where AAA processes your personal data you may have the right:

  • to be informed as to whether AAA holds data about you;

  • to access that data;

  • to have inaccurate data corrected;

  • to have your data deleted.

The purposes for which personal data is collected can include: when consent is given for one or more specific purposes; when necessary for the performance of an agreement; when necessary for compliance with a legal obligation; and when processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interest pursued by us or a third party. We keep your data as long as is necessary in connection with the purpose it is collected for. We will delete the information we hold about you as soon as we no longer need it or, where actionable, at your request.

You can also contact us to opt-out of or withdraw your consent to data processing we undertake. However in some cases we may need to retain data where it is kept in compliance with a legal obligation (e.g. records of donations must be kept).

EVENT BOOKINGS

We will process your personal data as is necessary for running the relevant event. We process the name and contact details of delegates. We will email you in the run up to the event with information about the event as necessary.

DONATIONS

If you choose to make a donation you will be directed to PayPal.com who will process your payment on our behalf. AAA will not access, use or keep your card details and we will not ask for them through our website nor by phone or email. In order for PayPal to take your card payment we will share some of the information you have provided such as the name of the person making the payment, the amount to be paid and the details of your order (for example the name of the event and number of delegates). PayPal will provide you with a privacy notice detailing how they process your data. PayPal will usually share information with us including as the name of the person making the payment (typically the cardholder) and payment type (e.g. mobile payment), they will also give us details you provide to them such as a contact name, address and phone number. MAILING

If you sign up to our mailing list we will email you to let you know about upcoming events and updates on our work. The legal basis for this processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by unsubscribing to our emails. We store your email address and also track which of our emails you open and what links you click in our emails. We share your personal data with our email software provider MailChimp. If you do unsubscribe, MailChimp will keep your email address on record to ensure we do not email you again. MailChimp is a popular and widely used email marketing provider. MailChimp are based in the United States and your data will therefore be transferred outside of the European Union and fall under the EU-US Privacy Shield which provides protection for the rights of anyone in the EU whose data is transferred to the US for commercial purposes. ONLINE TRAINING, WEBINAR AND MEETING PLATFORMS

AAA is currently using Zoom as a platform for hosting events online. Zoom has its own privacy policies which apply to everyone using that platform. You can read Zoom’s privacy statement here, and find information on Zoom’s GDPR compliance here.

SOCIAL MEDIA

AAA uses social media and social networking to inform people about our organisation. Personal data processed by social media platforms is subject to the terms and conditions of the platform owners, which may act as controllers of that data. If you engage with AAA’s social media accounts you should check the Privacy Policy of the relevant platform, such as Twitter and Facebook, to understand how your data may be used. These policies are subject to regular changes. AAA manages its social media accounts and pages. AAA is not responsible for any comments, links or content produced by third parties. We also use social media buttons and/or plugins on this site that allow you to connect with your social network in various ways. For these to work social media sites including Facebook and Twitter will set cookies through our site which may be used to enhance your profile on their site or contribute to the data they hold for various purposes outlined in their respective privacy policies.
