Vietnam Country Director

We are currently recruiting a Country Director for Vietnam.
The Vietnam Country Director will join our inclusive, diverse, and dynamic international team and work closely with our leadership team to coordinate programs, cultivate relationships with local advocates, and foster the growth of AAA’s network and contribution to animal advocacy in Vietnam.

This is a high-impact position that offers opportunities for strategic and innovative thinking, learning, and growth. You will also work on country-specific plans and strategies.

How Will You Make a Difference?

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and cultivating relationships with local advocates and organizations.

• Recruiting and managing a country-based team of volunteers. Building country-specific team structures as needed (e.g. remote volunteers across the country, one intern or assistant to help with the workload, a few student volunteers per institution we reach out to).

• Strategizing, setting goals and executing evidence-based, effective, and impactful plant-based diet change or animal rights programs in Vietnam.

• Liaising with the leadership team to plan, develop, and deliver country-specific (and regional, where appropriate) programs.

• Ensuring the implementation of AAA’s values and mission through country-level programs.

• Keeping programs on schedule and within budget.

• Coordinating with the Communications Team on marketing and outreach in Vietnam.

• Learning and applying Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks to track the impact of programs in Vietnam.

• Supporting local organizations and individuals through the grant cycle and mentoring process.

• Attend weekly online meetings and an annual in-person strategy meeting.

The following skills and experiences are desirable:

• Have access to the internet and their own laptop. 

• Experience in organizing and coordinating educational programs, campaigns, and social media efforts.

• Experience in managing a team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a remote and local team.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• In-depth understanding of the animal justice movement, especially in the Vietnamese context; experience with an animal advocacy organization or advocacy in another field is a plus.

• Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and the intersectionality of social issues.

• Strong commitment to AAA’s vision and mission.

• Proficiency with Google Suite (especially Docs and Sheets), Canva, miro, Zoom, and Slack.
  
  

Terms of Employment

• Type: Freelance position

• Commitment: Milestone-based, equivalent to approximately 3 days per week

• Location: Remote (Vietnam-based)

• Salary: up to $250/month during handover months depending on availability; full salary of $1,500/month starting January 2026; or, for a more flexible role, we could consider $1,000 per project payment with 2-3 projects a year
  (Note: Position will be shared with our current Vietnam Country Director until the end of 2025.)
