Animal Advocacy Conference Asia (AACA) mini

is a virtual platform for animal justice advocates across Asia to learn new skills, exchange ideas, and grow the movement together.

We aim to make AACA to be a space to highlight efforts of local animal advocates and encourage solution-centric strategies to be developed through knowledge sharing and collaborations.

This year, we're back with a mini version. Instead of multi-day webinars, we're rolling out individual sessions where you can follow along and register for the topics that catch your attention!

Tea Talk: Animal Advocacy in Schools - What could go wrong?

AAA Country Directors from Indonesia, Japan, and Philippines will be sharing their experiences advocating for animal justice at schools in their New Waves Asia programs.

Come along to learn from their journeys, find out what could go wrong, and how they overcome challenges!

About Speaker:

Poppy Permatasari (she/they) - Indonesia Director

Born and raised in Indonesia, coming from small town in pemangkat. Poppy is animal advocate and a vegan grassroots activist as they are also took part in the Sentient Media Social Media Fellowship 2022 as a team leader for Radical Kindness and working in the one and only farmed animal sanctuary.

Jayson Collins (he/him) - Japan Director

Jayson has been engaged in vegan and animal rights advocacy for over eight years. He has translated and produced more than 300 videos on veganism and animal ethics with Japanese subtitles, making the topic of animal rights accessible to Japanese audiences. Through Instagram's collaborative live feature, he has also facilitated conversations with over 150 individuals on a wide range of social justice issues.

Dr. Stef dela Cruz (she/her) - Philippines Director

Stef is an animal advocate. Before becoming vegan, she worked with organisations fighting for environmental protection, women’s rights, and healthcare justice. She graduated with Latin honours from both Medicine and Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas, where she is a Dean Bacala Academic Excellence Award recipient. She is the only doctor to receive the 2013 Health Media Award from the Department of Health. Arguably her most important achievement is being the human guardian of three spoiled cats.

We welcome anyone who want to be a better advocate for animals! We ask all attendees—including AAA staff and speakers—to follow our Code of Conduct.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can. We try to keep our events as accessible as possible, so if you can’t pay for donations, that’s fine too!

We will be using English as a default language throughout the conference this year. Although we want to make our space as inclusive as possible, we are not able to cover the cost of translation service this year.
